Allocation Analyst
Interview went well, discussed questions about the role and company culture. Everything was great overall and the interviewers were kind. They made me feel welcome and were very open about the role.
- What is your understanding of this role?
Buyer
I applied online for a Buyer position in the Beauty category and was contacted the next day because of my previous Beauty experience. I assumed they meant a phone interview, but they scheduled me for an in-person interview at their offices for Friday. I flew out for it and met with the recruiter, who seemed surprised I had flown in. The first part of the interview process involved confusion about who was supposed to meet me. After waiting, I met with the current buyer for the category for a conversational interview about my background and current role. Then I met with the DMM, which was also conversational. After the interviews, I was given a 'taste test' with various products where I had to decide whether to buy them as is, not buy them, or buy them with changes. We then discussed my willingness to relocate, as they don't offer relocation assistance for non-senior buyer levels. I expressed continued interest. Later that day, I was asked to come back for another meeting, but there was again confusion about who I was meeting. I didn't hear back for two weeks. Just before my next planned trip to LA, they asked me to come in again. On the day of the meeting, I confirmed the time with the recruiter and was told en route that I was supposed to be there 30 minutes earlier. The whole process felt very unorganized, but I enjoyed meeting the Buyer and DMM, though the recruiters were awful.
- Would you be willing to relocate?
- Are you really serious about relocating?
Assistant Buyer
I applied for the job through LinkedIn. A recruiter reached out by email to schedule an interview at their main office. I met with three people, and it felt pretty standard. They said they'd be in touch about the next steps. I heard back in a few days for a second interview, but it got pushed because of the holidays. After the new year, I followed up twice, and then they told me they changed the requirements and needed someone with more experience. So frustrating.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- What would you say are your main strengths and weaknesses?
- How skilled are you with using Microsoft Excel?
