First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Forest Home.
Visual Marketing Specialist
I had a phone call first, and then a second interview over lunch at a local restaurant. The employer asked me a bunch of questions that I now know were scripted, to see if I was a good fit for them. They first asked about my spiritual life because it's a Christian workplace, and then about my professional life and how I handle certain situations.
- Who is Jesus to me and what is the gospel
Program Director
The interview process started with a phone screening with my potential boss. Then there was an in-person/group interview with my potential boss and coworkers. After that, I interviewed with another Senior Director. Finally, I had an interview with the President of Forest Home. I didn't always hear back from Forest Home quickly between interviews, but I could get the info I needed when I called.
- Tell me about your event planning experience.
Accountant
The interview process was really strange. After I applied, about a week later, I got an automated email from a third-party site on behalf of Forest Home saying I was selected for a 'pre-recorded video interview.' I didn't get a call or even an email from a person in HR, which was very unusual. The video interview had 9 questions. One was about the job and why I was interested, but the other 8 were about religious beliefs and asked me to back up my answers with scripture. I'm Christian, so I could do it, but it was unexpected and difficult to switch gears like that when I thought I'd be discussing my experience and the company's mission. I still haven't spoken to anyone directly after finishing the video. It was a weird process.
- Regarding someone at camp saying they are gay, how would you respond, and please provide scripture to support your answer.
Food Service Worker
It was pretty easy. They mostly wanted to check if you're a strong believer. Having more availability increases your chances of getting hired. They want you to act like Christ and do more than expected for the guests.
- Do you believe in God?
