Registered Dietitian
I had a chat with a recruiter. They asked me about my past jobs and how I do Motivational Interviewing and MNT. They also explained the difference between Partner and Network RD titles, the pay, and how many hours I'd need to work each week.
- Could you describe how you approach client interactions?
- How do you approach Motivational Interviewing?
- What's your approach to MNT?
Mobile Engineer
A third-party recruiter reached out for a mobile engineering position. The hiring process was quite disorganized and confusing. It started with an HR screening via video call, covering my background and experience. Then, I spoke with the Country Head about high-level UI rendering concepts and some behavioral questions. After this, the recruiter went unresponsive, and I eventually learned the role was on hold. A couple of weeks later, the company's HR team contacted me about a different AI-focused role, which I agreed to explore. This involved a coding interview with an engineer from the US, who was supportive. Following that, there was a technical interview with a lead engineer focusing on React JS, which went professionally. After finishing all these stages, there was no immediate update. A week after I followed up, I was told I was selected, but then I had to chase for details about the next steps. When I mentioned another offer and requested clarity, they again said the position was on hold and that they needed someone who could join immediately, which was odd given the month-long process. The interviewers themselves were professional, but the overall coordination, communication, and decision-making were messy, suggesting internal misalignment among management, causing delays and confusion.
- Can you explain JavaScript basics?
- What do you know about closures?
- Could you elaborate on useEffect?
Director of Client Development
Applied to a role I wanted on Nov 14th but never heard back. My friend referred me on Dec 15th after talking to their recruiter. I had my 1st interview with the recruiter on Dec 18th. On Jan 9th, I spoke with the VP of Growth for the 2nd interview, who then suggested I consider a different role because the one I initially wanted was close to hiring others. My 3rd interview was with the SVP of Client Development on Jan 22nd. Then I spoke with the Marketing Engagement Mgr on Jan 25th for my 4th interview. The 5th interview was with the VP of Government on Jan 29th. On Jan 31st, the SVP of Client Development informed me they wanted me to pivot back to the original job I applied for and to do a case study assignment. I spent over 20 hours on this presentation, even though their summary said it would only take 1-2 hours and that there were no right or wrong answers. I presented my case study on Feb 6th to the SVP of Client Dev, VP of Client Dev, and SVP of Marketing for my 6th interview. I was told on Feb 8th by the recruiter that I didn't get the role because someone else's case study was more engaging and that mine was too idea-heavy with cited evidence. I was told I did not get the job.
- What information would you need to understand why enrollment targets were not met?
Senior Software Engineer
I had an initial chat with the recruiter, who was good at explaining the job and communication. He mentioned the next steps, which I understood differently - he implied it wasn't a pure LeetCode round, but maybe that was on me since I lost my notes. Anyway, be ready for tech rounds! The next stage was a tech round with a team engineer. I'm a bit biased about these tech interviews, so keep that in mind. I've done hundreds of LeetCode questions, but I don't think performance on them always shows a good engineer, especially for a small, non-tech company. But different strokes for different folks! My experience was like another software engineer interview on Glassdoor, but the engineer wasn't rude or uninterested, just socially awkward, which is common for software engineers – don't take it personally! The engineer didn't explain the question much, but it was written in a CoderPad. So, you'll have to sit in silence, reading the problem and the provided skeleton code. I found it tough, even after asking questions. I was a bit rusty on LeetCode, so more prepared folks might do better. I searched LeetCode and found two similar questions, one hard and one medium. The question I got felt like a variation of one or both, leaning towards medium. Since I was expecting an easier interview and I'm biased, I'd say my experience was neutral. Definitely brush up on your LeetCode!
- Could you solve LeetCode problems related to string manipulation and arrays?
