My interview with Fog Pharma was not great. About 45 minutes into the interview, the hiring manager told me they had already picked someone else an hour before our chat. I get that hiring timelines change, but it felt rude to keep going when they'd already decided. When I showed disappointment, the manager asked if this was a problem, which seemed out of touch. I've also heard from others that some parts of the interview weren't focused on job skills but on unrelated things. Fog Pharma could be more respectful and transparent; it would show their values.

It was pretty chill, mostly just chatting. They really want you to have thought about your own questions and to know why your previous research and work is important. After that initial chat, you go on to a second round, which is usually a smaller meeting with the senior scientist on your team and one other person from the team. They might ask you more technical stuff then.

  • Can you tell me about your past research, including any challenges and successes you encountered, and how you managed them?
