The interview process was handled by a third party, and the HR representative was very professional. However, the questions asked seemed to align more with a Solution Architect role, covering initial contact and salary discussions, even though the position advertised was for a Senior Developer. The rejection reason cited was a lack of architecture experience, which was confusing given that all discussions and the job description were for a Senior Developer, not a Solution Architect.

Behavioral Technical

I had a pretty laid-back chat with HR and a software engineer. We mostly talked about my background, going over my resume and digging into the projects I've done. The engineer shared some insights about their work and projects at the company. They also asked about my personal interests and hobbies. It felt very informal and conversational, which was fine by me. While there weren't any strictly technical questions, I did have to explain some of the technical details of my past projects and college coursework.

Behavioral Technical

I interviewed at a Career Fair. There were two interviews. The first was a standard interview. They reviewed my resume and asked behavioral questions with a technical spin, plus some technical questions about Object Oriented concepts and SQL. The second interview was with the hiring manager for the team. We talked about the team's projects, my potential role, and how I could gain experience in my areas of interest.

  • Can you tell me about a time you exceeded expectations to share information?
  • Describe a time you took the initiative to learn something new beyond your coursework.
  • Tell me about a time you stepped out of your comfort zone. What was the outcome and why?
