There are 3 interviews plus a lunch. The first interview is with 3 managers who ask some simple personality questions to see if you're a good fit since you'd be working for one of them if hired. The second interview is a technical interview where you should review basic fluid dynamics. The questions are easy, but it can be stressful. After that, someone who has been in the role for at least 2 years will take you to lunch. This is your chance to ask questions about the job and see if you like it. They'll be observing how conversational you are and if you seem interested in the role based on your questions. The last interview is with the office manager to go over job logistics and expectations. It might take a few weeks to hear about an offer, so don't hesitate to call them if you haven't heard back after 2-3 weeks.

I first encountered FM Global at an on-campus career fair and had a positive interaction. I was subsequently invited for an on-campus interview in November 2013. I also spoke with FM Global engineers at the SWE career fair, who were also very approachable. By the time of my interview, I was well-informed about the company. However, the interview primarily consisted of the interviewer discussing the company and his own experiences, with limited opportunity for me to talk about myself. Although I didn't get a second round, it was unclear why, as I had few chances to elaborate on my background.

There were three separate one-on-one interviews with different people, plus a personality test. The interviewers seemed way more focused on your personality and if you'd be a good fit for the job rather than your technical abilities. Since they invest a lot in training you and being an inspector isn't for everyone, they really want to ensure they get a good return on their investment. They did have a technical interview part, but it was mostly general questions to gauge how you think, no problem-solving required. They were very considerate and took you to lunch afterward in a casual setting. The person you had lunch with was there so you could get a feel for the company outside of a formal interview. My best advice is to have solid answers for general personality questions and to show how your personality aligns well with the position.
