I had a first-round interview with two interviewers. One was nice and asked typical questions, but the other was hostile and only asked me to detail how things worked at my current job. After I explained, he'd just say 'That's not how we do it here' and explain Flywheel's way, moving on without letting me respond. He didn't try to see how I'd fit into Flywheel's environment; he just wanted someone who already did things their exact way.

So the interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a quick phone call just to go over my background and qualifications. After that, they gave me an assignment to complete, which was a short medical writing task. I also had to send in a few samples of writing I'd done. The whole thing wrapped up in about two weeks.

I had a phone interview with the co-founder Jung Lee. It seemed like he was eating during the call since he kept muting himself, and when he returned, I could hear him eating. The way he talked about the job wasn't professional. He said it's basically an entry-level role and the description is just for looks. After he asked me questions, he didn't really talk with me. There were long silences after I answered, which made me think he was busy. The whole phone interview was super awkward.

It was a chill interview process. I had a one-on-one talk where we went over my career aspirations and what working at Flywheel is all about. They were upfront about the long hours, mentioning 60-hour work weeks and that it's not a typical 9-to-5 gig. A cool thing about Flywheel is they're willing to take a shot on people without prior medical writing or editing experience. The downside is it looks like there's a ton of work, and they pay at the very bottom of the salary scale for entry-level positions.
