Had a quick phone call with my potential advisor. Then, I was flown out for an interview with the department's faculty. The interview was pretty relaxed, and the faculty really convinced me about the university. The department covered my hotel costs. I also had dinner with my advisor and some current grad students where we discussed research and what grad school is like.

Submitted an online application. They were primarily interested in my research interests and future work plans. I had to provide information like GRE scores (with math being the most critical part) and my undergraduate transcripts. There's a significant focus on the math courses I've taken and the grades I received in them, which seems to be more important than my economics courses.
