First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Florida Institute of Technology.
Research Staff Member
The interview process involved an onsite meeting, a technical presentation, and a behavioral panel interview where I met with committee members. I discussed my new publication and grants I'm working on, and also asked about references and my future plans.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Financial Aid Counselor
I filled out an online application and sent in my resume. Then, about two months later, the supervisor called me. A month after that, I got another call from them. About a week after the second call, I went in for an in-person interview with two supervisors. They introduced me to the staff and gave me a tour of the Financial Aid Department.

Lead Technician
I submitted an online application. A contact at the school let me know about the hiring process. They seem to take their time filling positions. It felt like over 6 months passed from when the last person left until they started interviewing. I got my interview a month after the application closed. Then, it took them two weeks to give me an answer, even though they said I'd hear back the following week. If you haven't heard back yet, don't sweat it.
- Can you describe how you would troubleshoot an issue with Microsoft Office?
- Were all the questions you were asked found in the "Ace the Technical Interview" book?
- Were you well-prepared for the types of questions they asked?
Admissions
You'll get a call or email first, then an in-person interview. Weeks later, you get an automated response saying you didn't get the job. This is the same process for all jobs you apply for, except you skip the call/email/interview part. You just get an automated rejection email.
- Can you tell me about a time you failed?
