Head of Brand and Content
So the interview process at Flockjay really sealed the deal for me over other places. The team seemed super smart, genuinely cared, and were really focused on employee well-being. It was a pretty thorough process with a bunch of rounds, which I think is key at a startup since everyone's so crucial. It felt like a two-way street; they asked for references, but I also got to chat with people from different departments. They were really open and kept me in the loop the whole time. Even with multiple rounds, everything moved along nicely and on time. I've been doing this for over 10 years, and this was one of the best interview experiences I've ever had. I'd totally recommend this to anyone looking at mission-driven tech startups.

Admissions
The interview was 4 rounds, one of which was a mock interview for the role and a case study. All the people I interacted with were very kind, positive, energetic, and supportive. I didn't find it difficult, but it was reasonably challenging. They did a great job explaining the role, being upfront about the dynamic nature of a startup, and asking questions. This company really values heart, good character, and a people-centric culture. The people I interviewed with really showed me what the company is about. You can tell everyone is aligned with the mission and deeply invested in that work and, on a character level, aligned with the company!
- Can you share your experience in a startup and how you navigated challenges?
- In one year, where do you see yourself in this position?
- Tell me more about the role and what to expect.
Operations Lead
The staff was super friendly and happy to answer questions. But, they give you a 5-hour unpaid assignment, which is kind of a turn-off in hiring. And, instead of making it a made-up scenario, they have you fix their real problems, which is pretty much free work. These assignments make candidates put in effort without the company committing to them first. After the final interviews, they didn't give me any feedback, which is not cool for a company their size.
- Tell me about your experience in developing processes.
Career Services Manager
Had an initial call with a recruiter that went well. They were knowledgeable and friendly, and explained the process clearly. This was followed by a team manager interview, which was hard to read. It was mentioned several times that the role is very metric-driven, so discussing sales and metrics might be beneficial for others. Although the interview seemed to go well, I was rejected afterward. The overall experience wasn't bad, and I hope for another chance to interview in the future.
- Which are you more interested in: career development or business development?
