Application Analyst
My interview process with Flock Freight started off very positive. The recruiter was organized, professional, and easy to work with. The conversations with the director and the immediate team were also smooth and gave me a good sense of the role and the culture. The experience changed during the final round with executive leadership. After completing six interviews in one week and receiving consistently positive feedback, including being told my skills and impressions were exceptional, the process ended because the team’s direction had shifted. It felt as though expectations in the final round were not fully aligned, and the level of time and commitment asked of candidates did not match the clarity provided about what the team was actually looking for. I still appreciate the professionalism I experienced in the earlier stages, but there is room for improvement in setting consistent expectations and avoiding lengthy interview loops when priorities are still evolving.
- Tell me about a time you had to explain technical features to non-technical teams.
Talent Acquisition Manager
I interviewed with 6 people all the way to the end. The final interview was with a hiring manager who barely interviewed me, just said I was well-qualified. Then the hiring manager told me they weren't hiring for the role anymore and decided to go a different direction. This should have been figured out before wasting my time interviewing. Opening a role just for fun in this market is unprofessional. It seems like everyone on the team is green.
- How would you approach filling difficult-to-staff positions?
Software Engineer
4 rounds totally. The whole process was smooth and everyone was really nice and friendly. First was a quiz with easy Java (or JS) and SQL questions. Second was a voice call with two questions about OOD design and a LeetCode medium problem. Third was a meeting with the hiring manager to go over my resume. Fourth was an onsite interview that lasted about 4 hours, which included HR, OOD, system design, and a technical talk. I really liked this company, but I didn't perform well in the final round.
- What are your thoughts on object-oriented design?
- Can you design a simplified system related to our business?
- Solve a LeetCode medium problem.
Software Engineer
Got contacted by Natalya from SignalFire's database for a Senior Software Engineer role. The interview process was pretty standard: a phone tech screen, a 5-hour final interview loop that's typical for the industry, and then a final chat with the hiring manager. I got an offer about 4 business days after the final loop. Natalya was great with communication throughout. Even though I was weighing other offers, Flock didn't pressure me, and it took me about 3 weeks from the final loop to accept.
