The whole thing took about 3 months, it was like 3 steps. First, a recruiter called me. Then, I had a teams meeting with some of the people I'd be working with. Finally, I met with some of the senior folks on-site.

This was a really great interview experience! It kicked off with a screening call that took about an hour, and since that went well, I moved to the next step. Then, I had a follow-up call with a manager and two team leads. This call was scheduled for an hour but went a bit over, which was fine. They then invited me to an in-person interview or a virtual one, and I chose to travel. Flexware set everything up, including my flight to Indiana. I got a tour of the office, met some of the team, and then had the in-person interview with the same three people from the second call. Most of the technical questions were done over the phone, but in person, I had one whiteboard technical question to show how I approach problems and collaborate. They mentioned they were planning to offer me the job even before I came down. The entire process took under two weeks, and I got the offer via a phone call a few days after.

So I applied online and got a call pretty quickly, and it was the CEO, which was cool. They seemed really interested. It was a pretty detailed phone chat, covering my background and mistakes I've learned from. Then I had an on-site interview, which they had to schedule. It was with 5 key people and was mostly a repeat of the phone interview so the rest of the team could hear. The final on-site interview was with 6 key people, and they asked a lot of technical questions and about how I'd handle situations under pressure. Flexware really cares more about how you work and if you'll fit in than your specific skills. They focused on my character, not just experience. I showed them I can troubleshoot, learn fast, and come up with unique solutions, even with my different background.

The interview process was good. It was well lined out and somewhat predictable. In general the interview was fine and not difficult. Mostly questions about culture fit and a few questions about specific experience. I was asked a question that upset me and I decided to let the interview process lapse. A few days later they emailed me telling me I was still being considered and I would hear back in a few weeks and never heard anything.
