Portfolio Manager
So for a Portfolio Manager job, first you'll chat with a recruiter or HR person. They wanna check your background, see what you're doing now, and make sure you're on the same page about pay and if you actually want the job. Next, you'll probably talk to the hiring manager or lead PM. This is where you get into your investment style, how you build portfolios, how well you've done, and how you handle risk. They might ask you to explain why you made certain investments, what you think about the markets right now, and how you find and vet new opportunities.
- If you make it to the final round, you might meet with senior leaders or the CIO. This chat usually looks at your strategic thinking, leadership skills, and how your background fits with the company's big picture. They might ask about your long-term investment ideas, if you know the regulations, or even if you can get or expand client accounts.
Strategic Sourcing Manager
I got contacted about two weeks after applying. The recruiter set up the first interview and sent over some questions to check if I met the basic requirements. The initial interview was 45 minutes long. I've emailed the recruiter a bunch over the last two months, but no updates. She said the position is still open, but the hiring manager hasn't given any updates or set up more interviews. It might be a ghost position.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain your interest in this role?
Staff Accountant
The staffing department has repeatedly emailed me about a bank teller position, asking me four times. Each time, I've clarified that I'm seeking a role in my field and not interested in a bank teller job. When a Staff Accountant position became available, I applied, but I was never contacted. It seems like their staffing department either deliberately suggests a lower-level role or lacks awareness.
- Are you interested in a bank teller position?
Business Operations Analyst
The interview process was pretty standard. They first introduced me to the company, and then I met with two managers in person. The interviews were pretty relaxed and the managers were really nice. After a bit, I got an offer and started my onboarding.
- Could you tell me about your prior experience in banking?
