First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Five Star Institute.
Web Designer
They brought me in for an in-person interview, but there were several delays on their end beforehand. The team seemed nice and professional, but it seems like the management doesn't really know what they're looking for in this role.
- In what ways can your skills benefit the company?
Creative Director
It was a long interview where the owner did most of the talking and didn't ask me any questions. He mainly spoke about his life and accomplishments. He did ask some random questions, like whether I identify as a banana or an orange.
- Did you review our website and magazine?
Creative Designer
Applied online to a vague ad and got a call about a month later. The interviewer seemed to know less about the job than I did. The head guy actually told me I shouldn't work there and then offered me the job.
- Can you work more than 80 hours a week?
Manager
The interview process involved standard questions about work ethic, reasons for leaving previous jobs, attention to detail, and general experience.
- Can you share a time when you faced significant challenges and how you successfully navigated them?
