Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fisher Investments.
Senior Associate
The interview process started with a phone screening, followed by a video interview. The salary offered was not negotiable and seemed pretty low compared to the market rate. The initial phone interview was conducted by a very junior team member. It seems like a very corporate environment, but I've heard good things about working there.
- Could you please share some information about yourself and walk me through your experience?
Associate
When you arrive, they give you a name tag and a tour guide shows you around the buildings to help you learn more about the company. Then you go to the interview room and wait for the interviewer(s). They have multiple interviews in one day to find the perfect fit. The interviews were very conversational and pleasant, covering the usual topics. It really depends on who interviews you, and you might not know until you're on campus if you're applying for general associate roles. Everyone I met was pleasant and professional. Overall, great experience and impression of FI!
- Can you tell me about yourself and why you chose your major?
- Why do you think you're a good fit for this role?
- Describe a time you failed and what you learned from it.
Associate
I interviewed with three different people for three different positions. They really grilled me. They constantly asked me about my weaknesses and failures. I get that they want to see what kind of person I am under pressure, but when the interview only consists of asking me those questions, it gets depressing and I felt worthless. They should ask and then move on to other better questions where you actually get to know the person!! Also the pay is horrible!! 50hrs for 50k? It’s basically 19/hr pay your employees more if you expect them to work that long per week.
- What is your biggest failure?
- Can you describe a time when you failed?
- What led you to make that mistake?
