First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fisher Investments.
Account Executive
It was a pretty long interview process with five steps. It started with an external recruiter, then an internal HR/Recruiter. After that, I interviewed with someone who was supposed to be the hiring manager but turned out to be the Manager of another team, so another interview was booked after that one with the actual hiring manager. Finally, I had an interview with a Senior Member of the team. Nothing too hard, but as mentioned, many steps and a lot of time passed before I heard they went into a hiring freeze for reasons unknown.
- Can you share an instance where things did not go as expected?
Account Executive
It was pretty thorough, with up to six parts. There were two phone calls, then two video interviews, followed by an in-person meeting. The last part was a final decision interview, and after that, they might call with an offer.
- What is your motivation for entering this industry?
Sales Account Executive
I had an interview with the first hiring manager and it went really well, he was super friendly. But then the second hiring manager came in and I could tell it was going to be rough from the start. One question that really threw me off and stuck with me was when he asked 'so why are you in sales? Is rent due? If you’re not in sales for money then what’s your motive?'. It felt like he wanted me to say I was in it for the money, which wasn't the case. I tried to break the ice at the end by asking him about his life outside of work and how he manages it all. He gave a really short, rude answer and seemed uninterested in my follow-up questions, looking away and adjusting his glasses. I didn't feel like I got a fair shot compared to the first manager.
- What's your motivation for pursuing a career in sales?
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- How do you feel about cold calling?
