Project Manager
I got contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn, sent my resume, and had a webcam interview within the week. There was a pre-interview the day before with the recruiter, which was pretty relaxed, they told me to just be myself. Because of the holidays, I had a second interview a few days later with someone else who was on vacation. This second interviewer was more serious and didn't share much about the next steps. That same night, I received a job offer.
- What changes would you make if you were a manager for a day?
- Do you find yourself in agreement with your annual performance review?
- What single change would you implement in the world if given the opportunity?
Project Manager
I originally interviewed for a Project Manager Staff role, and the recruiter thought I should do an onsite interview. I went to Dublin for an onsite with two hiring managers. It seemed to go well. A week later, I heard the PM recruitment was reassigned and I'd be meeting with a new HR recruiter. There was some confusion on who I was meeting next. Four weeks later, I went to Dublin again for a second interview with a Sr. Project Manager and Manager, who didn't show up. I felt my time with the Sr. PM went really well though, and he thought I was a strong candidate who'd fit the culture. He said a decision was being made soon. It's been 3 months since that second onsite, and I haven't heard anything back. It's unbelievable how inconsiderate and unprofessional this is!
- Can you share an experience of managing a challenging stakeholder during a project and describe how you addressed it?
Project Manager
The interview process started with a phone interview that mainly focused on PMP certification. They asked about my experience but didn't inquire about product knowledge, client experience, or team management skills. I feel like HR shouldn't be conducting these initial calls; either the product or process manager should provide the questions or conduct the interview themselves. A lot of the time, HR doesn't really grasp the specific requirements of a role and screens candidates based on very general questions.
- Are you PMP certified?
- Can you tell me about your experience?
