First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Firstborn.
Software Engineer
We had some initial chats, checked references, and looked over your portfolio and code. There were also some small coding tasks and tests to check your programming abilities. Since it was a junior role, they weren't expecting a ton of experience, mostly just wanted to see your motivation, ambition, and if you'd be a good personality fit.
- What drives you?
- Can you describe a technical challenge you encountered previously?
Visual Designer
I had a video chat and the people were really nice which made it easy to chat about my work and my background. I usually feel awkward on video chats but this one went really well and I felt pretty relaxed with them.
- Can you explain the reasoning behind the color palettes and typefaces you chose for a specific project?
- What was the rationale for selecting particular color palettes and typefaces in one of your previous works?
Business Development
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter within a week. We set up a time, and the following week I visited the office in Lower Manhattan. It was nice, and I got a quick tour. I then met with the Director of Business Planning and later the SVP. The whole thing took about 2.5 weeks.
- Can you share some of your personal accomplishments and explain how they are relevant to this role?
Studio
The interview process was very general and easy. Questions mostly are about your previous experience. They are trying to get a sense of what kind of person you are and if you will be a good fit in their company. They are mostly young talented Publicist that work there and they want to make sure you will be an asset.
- Tell me about your background and past work.
- Can you describe your personality?
- Do you think you would fit in well here?
