First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at First Watch.
Server
When I went in, I had to introduce myself and talk about the steps of service. Then they asked me about my work history and background. They also wanted to know my available days and times. They asked if I had reliable transportation and if there were any limits to what I could lift or if I had any disabilities.
- Can you explain the steps of service and tell me about your background?
- What days and times are you available?
- Do you have reliable transportation?
Server
The process involved interviewing with two managers. The first was the assistant manager, who made me feel uncomfortable with their intense stare. The general manager was even worse, reacting poorly to questions by looking at me like I was stupid and walking away. Despite these issues, I was offered the job and accepted it. However, I regretted not trusting my initial feelings about the managers' treatment of employees, which seemed dismissive, while they themselves expected respect and threw tantrums. It felt like too much drama for minimum wage.
- Estimate the number of tennis balls that could fit into my car.
Line Cook
I've interviewed at a few places. They don't hire you right away, you'll have a few interviews. The interviews aren't too bad, but if you need a job fast, it takes a while.
- How would you handle it if the previous shift left the kitchen messy?
