Software Engineer
This company's reviews aren't great, but the onsite experience itself was good. The recruiter, however, seems unprofessional and has poor communication. It's been over two months since I was told I'd get a follow-up email within a week of my interview, and I still haven't received any rejection or update. If you're willing to go through one useless HR interview where they just rehash your resume, a 4+ hour take-home assignment, and a 2-hour onsite interview (including a 1-hour lunch break), then this might be the role for you. You'd expect some courtesy for the time invested.
- Discuss data modeling and complete a take-home assignment lasting over 4 hours.
Technical Recruiter
I was contacted by an HR associate on LinkedIn due to their interest in my profile. I had a phone screen, and then met with the founder and Director. They were very interested in my background and invited me for an onsite interview a few weeks later. The onsite lasted over 4 hours with no breaks and I met with multiple team members. After the interview, I felt I was still strongly considered. I followed up with a thank you email and asked about moving forward since I had another offer pending. It's now been over 2 weeks since the onsite and I haven't heard anything. I was ghosted by the associate/manager contact. They should at least send a rejection email after I spent hours interviewing with them in person. This was a horrible candidate experience. P.S. They mentioned this position has been open for over 3 months.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Backend Developer
First I had an initial call with a recruiter, then a 30-min phone call with another engineer where they asked about me and my experience. After that, there was a tech screening which was a realistic test of the role's duties, involving diagnosing issues, database structuring, and a coding task that wasn't like LeetCode. Then, I had a half-day interview with different team members (front-end, back-end, product) and a founder chat. The whole process was enjoyable and the people were smart and sociable. They seemed to value technical skills as well as attitude and behavior. I turned down the offer but would consider reapplying later.
- Can you structure a database considering these new requirements?
- How would you approach this coding task?
- Diagnose these problems as best you can.
Forward Deployed Engineer
After a good call with the hiring manager, I was told I was moving to the final round and asked for my availability for a three-hour interview. I provided several time slots and followed up twice, but never heard back. It's disappointing because the earlier interviews went well and I kept my schedule open. While I understand that plans can change, ceasing communication after inviting someone to the final stage is unprofessional. I hope the company improves its communication for future candidates.
- Can you discuss a data modeling scenario?
- Could you share some information about your background?
