First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at First National Bank of America.
Compliance Officer
I applied online and got a call for an interview pretty quickly, maybe a week or two after. First National had me take a personality quiz where I had to pick traits I thought described me and traits I thought others saw in me. It seemed like they were into independent thinkers who wanted to take on more. On interview day, before meeting anyone, I had to do a Wonderlic test. My first interview was with the department head and someone on the team. For the second round, I had three quick 30-minute chats with different people from around the bank. After that, they took me out to lunch.
- In what ways do you see yourself as a servant, in line with the company values?
- Can you share your long-term professional goals?
- This company has a conservative culture; do you think you'd be a good fit?
Mortgage Underwriter
I applied online via a job board and then completed an initial online assessment that covered general knowledge. After that, I got an email to come in for some tests and what they called a 'potential' interview. When I got there, they made me take a Wonderlic test and also a long survey with 80 questions, about half of which were about whether it's okay to steal from work or deal illegal drugs. They didn't explain why these couldn't be done online since I had to travel 1.5 hours each way to get there. Once the tests were done, the interviewer told me the hiring manager was unavailable but that I'd hear back by the end of the week, possibly even that day. It's been 4 weeks with no contact. It was super unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Imagine how they treat employees if this is how they treat candidates.

Mortgage Consultant
It starts with a math/reading/writing test in HR that's pretty tough. Then, you answer a bunch of questions about your values and ethics, which are kind of repetitive and check if you're being truthful. For instance, they might ask if you've ever sped, knowing that honesty is key. After that, if a supervisor is free, you'll have a one-on-one chat where they review your resume and you can ask questions. If that goes well, you meet with two Floor Managers who ask situational questions about daily job tasks to see if you'd perform well.
- What actions would you take if a customer couldn't make their payment?
- Can you handle a monotonous desk job?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with an angry customer.
Sales Associate
The interview was pretty chill. I went in and met with the HR manager and two other managers from departments that work closely with this role. We talked about my resume, and I got to ask them questions to find out more about the job and the company. Everyone was really nice and friendly, and it seems like a good place to work.
- Can you walk me through your resume and highlight relevant experience?
- How do you see your previous experience applying to this specific position?
- What questions do you have for us about the role or the company?
