Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at First Derivatives.
Business Analyst
I went through 2 interviews for this role. The first was an intro call, and then there was another 30-minute call. We talked about why I wanted the job and my background.
- Can you tell me what motivates you?
- What's your experience been like so far?
- What made you decide to apply here?
Business Analyst
We started with a couple of phone interviews where they asked about my experience, past roles, and teams. Then, I came in for an in-person interview with two rounds, each lasting about 30-45 minutes. One was with a technical analyst, and the other focused more on the business/finance side. Since I wasn't applying for a technical BA role, even the technical interview was pretty basic, with simple questions about databases, SQL, and stored procedures. The final round was with the regional manager, which was very informal and mainly for me to ask any remaining questions about FD.
- Can you tell me about your SQL skills?
- What's your knowledge of financial products, generally speaking?
Business Analyst
This was the most unprofessional interview experience ever. The interviewers were disorganized, asked the same questions, and clearly hadn't reviewed my CV. The whole process from application to interview felt chaotic, especially from HR. The interviewer who should have had knowledge of functional and financial products didn't seem to know much and lacked qualifications for a manager role. I wouldn't recommend this company, and I declined their offer.
- Can you share your past experiences?
