I started this interview process in October 2024 with a recruiter chat, which was really informative about FDB. It took a few weeks to get to the next step, talking with the hiring manager. I was a bit worried about the delay, thinking maybe it was the holidays coming up. The hiring manager chat wasn't super memorable, but I was still keen on the job. Then, another 3 weeks went by before the next round, and I was getting pretty demotivated because I had to keep chasing the recruiter for updates. The final interviews at FDB were with a Support leader and a Sales leader. I felt like those went well, but there was no word on timelines or decisions. After another 3 weeks of no response, even after I reached out for updates, I took a job with another company. Just for comparison, the other company's 4 interview rounds wrapped up in just 2 weeks. All in all, this whole process was just incredibly slow, and I didn't feel like my time or my prep were valued. It's a bummer to be constantly asking for updates, and it seems like they still haven't filled the role as of 1/29/25.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was well-managed, efficient, and straightforward. Began with a 30-minute phone screen with the HR recruiter. Surprisingly, received an email for writing samples, and was contacted almost immediately a day later by the manager of communications. This phone interview was casual, and went really smoothly. I was contacted for a third in-person interview. Spoke with the Director of Customer Communications and the Tech Writer team in Indy. Interview went smoothly, and they created a sense of excitement for me to want to join the team. A week later, I got the offer.

Technical Behavioral Coding System Design

The interview process involved a one-hour phone screen with four interviewers, followed by a two-hour interview with a panel of three. It was mostly technical with some personality questions. They started by asking me to self-assess my technical skills in various areas. Then, they focused on questions related to topics where I rated myself highly, and didn't probe much on weaker areas. I was also given written requirements for a software system and asked to design its database diagram on a whiteboard during the interview, which also included a live coding assessment.

This role has been open for 6 months, indicating a slow hiring process. My experience involved speaking to the recruiter two months ago, and since then, I've been meeting one new person each month. Other candidates have reported a similar, lengthy process. It includes a call with the recruiter, then the hiring manager, followed by interviews with cross-functional teams. Don't expect them to move quickly.
