I had an HR screen first, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. Interestingly, I didn't get to meet with the sales team leadership I would have been supporting. A marketing SVP was also scheduled to interview me, but they ended up being unavailable.

I had a phone call where they asked me general stuff about what I think of the company, the job, and my background. The person on the phone was nice and seemed to like my answers. They mentioned industry teams that might fit me and said they'd call back. The interviewer compared the job to telemarketing at one point but then took it back. First American never called back, and the interviewer didn't even reply to my emails. It was unprofessional that they didn't respond, but at least it didn't take up much of my time.

So, the interview process for this role started with me doing about 25 minutes of paperwork given by the receptionist. It had the typical profile and work history questions, but also some fill-in questions like ‘how do you define success’. The paperwork also asked for multiple references and really seemed to focus on past academic performance. The first 1:1 interviews are the first of potentially 4 steps with this company. I think the second step is personality testing and more 1:1 interviews with other people at the company. After all that paperwork, I was surprised that the actual 1:1 interviews with the VPs were very casual and pretty standard. Both VPs were younger than I expected and I felt like their work experience outside FAEF was limited. Even though both VPs agreed at the end of the interview that I was qualified and had the background they were looking for, I wasn't asked to do the personality testing part. They seem to want someone highly educated who’s okay with wearing a headset and making tons of calls all day in their nice new office with flat screens showing real-time sales performance for each person. The starting salary for this job is about in the low to mid $30’s.

The interview process involved a phone screen, a Skype call, and two in-person interviews. The office space is nice and recently remodeled, quite impressive. They also included ride-along 'interviews,' which felt more like observing people work rather than an actual interview, more of a demonstration of the job.
