First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FIDM.
Education Assistant
I was asked a bunch of simple questions and they were kind of condescending the whole time. They didn't give any feedback or even use basic conversational body language, which was really strange and off-putting.
- Which of your school classes did you excel in the most?
Speakers Bureau Representative
I had to create a 15-minute presentation using PowerPoint about applied arts content, which I then presented to some directors in a public area. After that, we had a 45-minute conversation. It was pretty casual, although starting with the presentation made me a bit nervous.
- Tell me about your public speaking experience.
Multimedia Designer
It was a pretty chill and fast interview process. They got right to the point and didn't really dig into personal stuff. They asked me about how I manage my time and my general workflow. They also checked out my online portfolio and then had me do an animation on the spot to check out my animation chops, my speed, and how thorough I am. They seemed really interested in my other art experience too, like in fashion and sculpture, because they want someone who's well-rounded.
- Could you present some of your work and elaborate on its potential value to our company?
Merchandiser
The interview process was quite unexpected, but I was fortunate to be selected. The interviewers were highly professional, skilled, talented, and well-educated individuals. I felt lucky to have the opportunity to interact with them. Learning industrial skills from them will significantly contribute to my career growth and help me secure my future.
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
- Could you elaborate on your experience within the merchandising sector?
