Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fidelity International.
Manager
The interview process involved multiple stages. It started with an initial phone screening by HR. Then, there was a case study designed to assess how I would handle a business problem or scenario. Following the case study, I had a discussion about it with a Senior Manager, who was looking for a Manager with a Java background and surprisingly had no knowledge of WebAPIs or Web Services, yet still wanted to discuss them. The final stage was a discussion with another Manager who, despite supposedly working in Agile for over 3 years, seemed unaware of its basic principles.
- How would you initiate a new project?
- What are the core principles of project management?
- Can you explain the reasoning behind your approach to the case study?
Senior Manager
The overall experience was poor. The recruitment team was not courteous enough to inform me about the status of my application. I was called for an in-person round which was stated as urgent. I had planned and taken time out for this round. After many follow-ups, the recruitment team in Gurgaon neither picks up the call nor informs about the status. I believe the company should respect the time a candidate invests and at least provide updates on the decision.
- Could you share what aspects of this position particularly appeal to you?
Assistant Manager
It started with an HR round which was just a normal discussion. Then I had a manager discussion where they asked technical questions and then gave me a case study. Finally, I had a presentation to the Manager & Director where they judged my technical skills, interpersonal skills, and understanding of reporting and visual representation.
- How do you handle a large dataset and its visualization?
