First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FibroGen.
Senior Scientist
It was an easy interview process. I had both panel and individual interviews. They took about a month to get back to me. The company was great back then. Questions focused on short-term and long-term plans.
- What are your short-term plans?
- What are your long-term plans?
- What is your expected salary?
Associate Director
The first step was a phone screen with an HR rep, which went well and felt positive. After that, I was supposed to have a Zoom meeting with the hiring manager. The first attempt at this meeting was cancelled just an hour before it was scheduled, and it got rescheduled for two weeks later. The second time around, the meeting was cancelled again, and I wasn't given any reason. The HR rep didn't follow up with an email or a call, which I found very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this company.
- Can you describe your previous experiences?
Clinical Operations Associate Director
The hiring manager handled the entire interview process, without any recruiter or HR involvement, which was a first for me. Things moved pretty fast through the initial stages (phone screen, meeting the team, stakeholders, and an HR rep). I felt really good about it, with one stakeholder saying I was their top pick and the hiring manager indicating I'd hear about next steps. The HR rep also said the same. However, I never heard back and got ghosted three weeks ago, even after following up with both HR and the manager. It's pretty disappointing; I'd rather get a clear 'no' than be left in the dark.
- Given your background in a larger organization, can you explain your interest in Fibrogen and how you see yourself fitting into a smaller company culture?
- Describe your approach to management and leadership.
- What experience do you have in relevant therapeutic areas?
Director
It was a detailed, virtual interview process with a panel that included people from different teams. There were 3 rounds in total. A presentation was involved at a senior level, and it was a good opportunity to meet the leadership. Scheduling the interview was very smooth. I wish it could have been in person though.
- Could you share details about your past experience?
- What are your key soft skills?
- Tell me about a presentation you gave.
