Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fermilab.
Intern
The interview process was great. They seemed to have really looked into my resume and background and were willing to answer all my questions. I also got a chance to learn about different available projects and how I could be impactful.
- Can you discuss a specific point from your resume?
Intern
I interviewed via Zoom with a group of researchers leading the project, it wasn't a one-on-one thing. It was short, mostly asking about past experiences. I made sure to prepare some questions for them about the research projects and the facilities. They seemed really interested in my coding abilities and any previous work I'd done with different software and programming languages. Just a heads up, getting an interview doesn't guarantee you'll get the job.
- Tell me about your skills and knowledge related to this role.
- What research experience do you have?
- Describe your coding skills.
Intern
It was a brief 15-minute Zoom call where I spoke with four people on a committee. They mainly asked me questions about things I've done before, like my research work, what I've accomplished, what I want to do after I graduate, and if I had any questions for them.
- What has been your greatest achievement so far?
- Can you discuss your past research experiences?
- What achievements are you most proud of?
