Fenergo Interview Questions
& Process

I had 3 rounds with Fenergo and got rejected. First was a technical interview with a developer, then a mix of behavioral and technical interviews with managers, and finally behavioral interviews with the IT director and a manager from the Dublin office. Communication with the recruiter was strictly via email and Teams, and they seemed a bit overwhelmed. The role has been open for over two months, and they're really trying hard to find the 'right' person with their budget. I was contacted about this position twice. The company exclusively uses Windows laptops. During our chat about Apple Silicon, the interviewer expressed regret about their old Mac setup and the inability to upgrade. When asked about managing tech debt, both the technical staff and the director gave conflicting answers. It seems developers are treated as subordinates and expected to strictly follow procedures. Local development processes aren't well-defined, and the absence of a QA team is surprising given the company's size.

I applied via a staffing agency, Harvey Nash, who then contacted me with details about the role and their contract with Fenergo, as they were recruiting many candidates. Harvey Nash sent me a link for an online test to complete at home. It covered tough QA terminology and methodology theory. The Harvey Nash person told me I did very well and Fenergo was impressed, wanting to schedule a face-to-face meeting soon. After waiting a long time with no response from Fenergo or Harvey Nash, and after following up many times, they eventually said they had hired someone else.

I did an online multiple choice technical test first, then had a phone interview with a Software Engineer. The last part was an in person interview with the Senior Front End Architect. The whole thing was pretty good, they communicated well throughout. The people I talked to were nice and gave me a good idea of what the company is like. I got feedback pretty quickly after everything was done, and it was detailed. The process made sense, and I only had to go to their main office once. Looking back, the job might have been a bit much for me, but I'm glad I got to interview with Fenergo.

The process started with a recruiter phone screen, followed by a 30-minute online assessment. Then, there was a 1-hour interview with the hiring manager, then a 1-hour interview with two senior managers, and finally a 1-hour interview with senior managers and the director. They mentioned they would decide the next week, but it's been 6 weeks with no contact despite my follow-ups. It felt like a waste of 4 hours of my time (plus prep). They don't seem to respect candidates' time. They should at least email or call to close the process. Apparently, this is common here. Don't waste your time applying.
