First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fellowship of Catholic University Students.
Missionary
The interview process is long, but it helps you figure out if it's a good job for you. If you're on a FOCUS campus, they'll prep you for the interview.
- Could you describe your prayer life?
- What is your motivation for joining FOCUS?
Missionary
I went through a weekend-long, in-person interview process with other candidates. It involved both spiritual and professional interviews. The interviewers were the same the entire weekend, which helped build rapport and made things feel more natural.
- Can you describe your experience with spiritual multiplication?
Campus Missionary
There's a weekend event for all candidates applying for the next year. During this weekend, you'll go through three interviews: one focusing on faith, another on leadership experience, and the last one on your experience with virtue. The virtue interview doesn't directly impact your hiring decision, but if you get a contingent offer, they'll want to see progress in areas like counseling or 12-step programs.
- Describe a strength and a weakness that your supervisor would identify.
Campus Missionary
After discerning your calling to be a FOCUS missionary, the first thing is to fill out the online application. It asked for 3 references, and they had to submit their part within a week of me submitting the application. Then, a recruitment rep emailed me to schedule a face-to-face interview. The interview was about 25 minutes long. FOCUS let me know their decision in a week.
- Tell me about your ministry experience and how you believe it has prepared you for the FOCUS missionary role.
- How does your ministry experience equip you for the FOCUS missionary position?
