First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Feed the Children.
Director of Social Engagement
The hiring process was agonizingly slow. I was initially brought on as a contractor and was expecting to transition to a full-time role at Feed the Children by early July 2013. However, I didn't actually receive and accept a formal offer until September. Once I was onboard, I realized that both the HR and legal departments are incredibly slow when it comes to hiring new staff and getting contracts approved. I had interviews with my direct manager and someone from HR.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- And what about your weaknesses?
Clerk
I got a call from the staffing agency saying Feed The Children wanted me to interview the next day. When I got there, I could choose between two jobs: one with phone work and less pay, or one with just data entry. I chose data entry. After a few simple questions like 'repeat what it says on your resume', they offered me the job, but I had to pass a drug test first. I took the drug test right after and started the job the next day. The hiring staff were really professional.

Director
I went through an interview with a recruiter and had to fill out a long application. I was excited to be shortlisted and waited to hear back. After four months of waiting, I found out the position was no longer available. I wish they had let candidates know sooner.
- Can you detail your years of experience in each sector, including the organization's name?
Customer Service Representative
So, the first part of the interview was a phone call, and then the second interview was in person where I met with three people. It was two supervisors and one HR rep. They were all really nice, and we had a good chat.
- Were the questions asked fair and did they evaluate if you can do the role?
