Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Analyst
The interview process had two rounds, each lasting about 30 minutes. They didn't ask very technical questions; it was more about my background related to the job and my future career goals, and how this position could help me advance.
- Can you elaborate on your contributions to past projects?
Analyst
The whole thing from start to finish took me about 3 weeks. I applied for the Markets Group. First up was a 30-minute phone call with a Resource Management Associate. It was mostly behavioral questions, and the person was really experienced, making it super comfortable and even fun. Just gotta watch what you say, though. The next interview, which was the last one, was a 30-minute panel on Skype. They mainly asked about my previous work and seemed to focus on skills like problem-solving, being analytical, and detail-oriented. Nothing too technical. About a week later, they called to let me know I got the offer.
- Can you explain your interest in this program?
- Have you encountered any challenges in the past?
- What are your expectations from this internship?
Analyst
About a month after I applied online, I got an email saying they wanted to do a phone interview. It was about 30 minutes. Right after that, they sent another email asking me to come in for in-person interviews with the team and an HR person. The day after those interviews, they asked for references. Two weeks later, I got an offer.
- What are your current economic focus areas?
