So after I applied and got a job offer, I had to fill out a bunch of papers. Then came the background check, which took like 3-6 months. After that, I got a call to come in for an actual interview. On that day, I had to do a bunch of tests: a physical interview with an official, a drug test, a hearing test, a writing test, and a multiple-choice test. If you don't pass the writing or multiple-choice, you can reapply in 6 months. If you pass, you get a start date and go to a training place for 2 weeks.

There wasn't really an interview, everything was submitted online. You will need your Certified Food Manager certificate to get the job. This can be taken online for about $99. Having restaurant experience will help a lot. You can just get an after-hours job as a part-time cook to do this.

It was long but it went pretty fast. I had my onsite interview, then the physical exam, some testing, and a tour of the facility. It was a panel interview. Had a verbal interview with some inmate questions and medical questions. Then they reviewed the physical requirements with me. We took a facility tour and they described the duties within the facility. I met with other staff members and we discussed working there, the types of pathology, patients, and services offered. They also informed me of the staffing available. They explained the physical exam requirements and that I would be going to training for three weeks in Georgia.
