The interview process was intense, but it's doable. Just be ready for technical questions because they will be asking difficult questions in the take-home assignment and live coding questions. Other than that, just be yourself and you'll do great.
- How would you deal with missing values in a dataset?
EMT
The hiring process is pretty straightforward. The only thing that is annoying is that its separate dates for each part of the interview and its located in downtown BK. It comes down to filling out the application questionnaire they hand you and your background check. If all is clean you pretty much get the job pending medical evaluation, psych evaluation, and importantly the physical evaluation. From there you enter the academy where the real processing begins in training the FDNY way.
- Tell me about your employment history.
- Do you have any arrest records, if any?
- Can you walk me through your employment history?
EMT
It's a long and detailed hiring process with a lot of testing and appointments. First, you put your name on a list and wait. When you're called, you do a physical fitness test. After that, if you're called again, you go for a medical screening. You also have to pass a psychiatric evaluation and a written test. Once all that's done, you meet with your lead investigator who reviews all your paperwork. If you pass, you wait for a phone call to join the academy. They might call you as late as 2 days before it starts, making it hard to give proper notice at your current job.

Firefighter
To get hired, you'll have to wait until they announce a test date for the exam. If you take the exam and pass high on the list, they will contact you by mail. You will fill out an extensive application asking about your whole entire life. Then you will show up at the 1 on 1 interview. After that, you will do a medical. Then you can expect to be called back for the academy in 6 to 9 months.
- What places have you worked?
