First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Farm Credit Financial Partners (FPI).
Software Developer
I went through the in-person interview for the engineering job. Although I'm grateful for the chance, it showed me some potential issues. The vibe during the interview was pretty tense, and the conversation leaned more towards the interviewer talking about how long they've been there and their internal team conflicts, rather than what the job actually entails technically. Because of this, I'm a bit concerned about the team's culture and if everyone is on the same page professionally.
- Can you list the four fundamental principles of Object-Oriented Programming?
IT Manager
So there were 3 interviews total. First up was the Resource Specialist (HR) to talk about the job. Then I spoke with the Manager/Director I'd be reporting to. Last was the VP of IT. The interviews were mostly about my skills, how I'd handle certain situations, and my communication style in those scenarios. There were also some tech questions thrown in here and there.
- Tell me about a difficult decision you had to make regarding a problem you encountered, and how you resolved it. What steps did you take in your process?
- Can you share an instance where you faced a challenging problem and had to make a tough decision? Describe your problem-solving approach.
- How did you go about solving a difficult problem that required a hard decision, and what was your process?
Test Engineer
First, there was a brief HR discussion that lasted about 5 minutes. Following that, a technical interview took place, which was around 20 minutes long. They tend to take their time announcing results, often exceeding 10 days.
- What are your thoughts on test plans and strategies?
- Can you share some insights on automation?
Engineering Intern
I initially applied for an internship in an Engineering department and had a really quick 15-minute HR call. After that, I went through a 45-minute technical interview with two managers where I was asked a couple of technical questions. It was a bit awkward because one manager was condescending, but I got along well with the other. I didn't hear back for two weeks, then HR called to say I didn't get the offer but they wanted to interview me for a different Engineering role. I had a 45-minute interview with that manager, which was pretty straightforward and mostly about my background. I ended up getting an offer during that interview and accepted it.
- Can you give an example of a Queue in a real-world scenario?
- What are the four fundamental concepts of OOP?
- Could you tell me about your background and walk me through your experience?
