The interview was pretty clear and helpful. Since it was for a weekly beat role, they asked about my interest in different teams and gave me an idea of what the weekly work involves. They didn't push me to decide right away for the contract role, which was nice.

They started with a writing assignment, then I talked to the fellowship lead, and then I had another chat with some of the staff. It all took like a month.

Applied online, and part of the application was a prompt asking for an angle on a made-up sports headline. Got an email response and then a zoom interview that went well. After that, they gave me a timed test to write up 3 fictional sports headlines, which I emailed back. The next day, I got an automated message saying they'd review my application and get back to me. A week went by, so I followed up and was told there were some internal changes and they'd be in touch soon, thanking me for my interest. That was it. Total ghosting and unprofessional process. No call, no email, nothing.
