HR called me for an initial chat and to set up a meeting with the Art Director. After talking with the Art Director, I got an unpaid assignment to create some deliverables for a presentation. I had a week to finish it up and present. It was pretty formal. I thought I had a good chance, but after presenting my work in the final interview, they said they weren't moving forward with me for the role.

It began with a recruiter call to go over the job, then I spoke with the hiring manager who gave me a design test to do after the interview. I had to redesign the homepage based on a brief they gave me. After sending that in, I went in person to talk about my design and answer more questions, and then the recruiter called me soon after.

So, there were 3 interviews and a design test at the end. The whole thing took about 3 months from the first chat to finishing the test. Then, it took another 3+ months to hear back that they weren't offering me the job. The first chat was with the manager who'd be training the junior designer. The second was with some other managers and team folks. The last one was with the art director for the merchandising team.
