Behavioral Other

This interview process took nearly two months and was quite frustrating. FGB presents itself as a mission-driven company focused on empowering women, but my experience was the opposite, leaving me feeling disempowered and confused due to poor communication and disorganization. It's perplexing how they succeed at a larger scale while struggling with individual relationships. Although I received a verbal offer with a set start date and expected offer date, I had to contact the VP after three weeks of no communication to discover the role was being relocated to a different city.

Technical Coding

I did a coding challenge, building a small React app, which took about 3 hours. After that, I was invited for an onsite interview. I met with a Senior Engineer, a Manager, and the Co-founder. We discussed the coding challenge, and I felt I answered their questions well. The process felt good and went smoothly. Two days later, I followed up and am still waiting to hear back about their decision. I received a rejection email, which was quite disappointing because I was really passionate about Fairygodboss. Oh well, it's a loss-loss situation – I missed out on a great startup product, and they missed out on a developer who was very enthusiastic about Fairygodboss.

Behavioral Case

The interview process was fast and efficient. I met the key people quickly. The founders are fast-paced and tend to interrupt, but I'm used to that executive style. The only issue was a red flag when they scheduled a final panel interview and asked for references. After I provided them and confirmed the date, they emailed an hour later saying they were moving on with another candidate, citing rapid startup changes. As an HR professional applying for their sole HR role, I felt this was mishandled. In recruiting, it's wise to keep options open. I believe they should have followed through with the scheduled meeting. Given their business model (a review site for workplaces), they should improve their interview, feedback, and rejection processes. After meeting the top three executives, a phone call explaining the decision would have been better.

Behavioral Presentation

I talked to a recruiter, then had two interviews with the company that lasted about 2 hours. This included a demo pitch. After all that, I got ghosted by both the company and the recruiter. I get that maybe my skills weren't a match, but a simple response would have been professional. I did enjoy meeting the team and the pitch part, where I actually got some useful feedback. During the interviews, it felt like they didn't ask specific questions about my background, but instead wanted me to talk about myself so they could gauge my personality. It left a bad impression not hearing back. I expected more from a company that helps women with jobs and careers, especially since interviewing as a woman in SaaS can be intimidating. It seems like they've been restructuring a lot.
