Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fairfield Residential.
Property Manager
The interview lasted around 45 minutes. They asked a lot of specific questions about my past experience, and also some about the job itself and how I'd manage a team of leasing agents. They touched on technical skills like Yardi, bookkeeping, and leasing. But, they really emphasized that they needed someone strong in leadership and organization to get their apartment leased up quickly and smoothly. It felt pretty comfortable, with some casual chat and jokes, making the vibe relaxed. Although I didn't get the exact job I applied for, they did offer me a different position.
- Can you describe how you deliver bad news, for example regarding rent collection or evictions?
- If you noticed a team member underperforming, what steps would you take to motivate them?
- What's your approach to management?
Property Manager
I applied online, then had a quick phone chat. After that, I toured the property. Then I interviewed in person with the Regional Manager. My second interview was with the VP. Most of the interview involved questions about my skills and experience, and I learned about their culture and what they expect.
- What motivates your interest in Fairfield?
- Can you describe your relevant skills and experience?
- What are your thoughts on our company culture?
Property Manager
I had a phone interview for the Assistant Property Manager role. It felt like they were more interested in getting to know me as a person and seeing if I was a good fit, rather than just checking if I had the skills. They were really nice and made me feel welcome. The whole thing took about 40 minutes. I spoke with both the person I'd report to directly and the regional supervisor.
- What are your future aspirations and career goals?
