First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FactSet.
Business Consultant
I had an HR Interview first, it was a get to know you kind of chat. Then, there was a 60 min interview with Managers where they asked a lot of questions all related to the financial markets, instruments, calculations etc. After that, I had a Second Interview with Team Members. This last one was based on a homework exercise I had to prepare. All in all, it takes up to 3 weeks to complete the process.
- Can you tell me about financial instruments?
- What do you know about financial markets?
- How do you measure a portfolio?
Graduate Consultant
The interview had 4 stages. First was an online application with cover letter, CV, and competency questions. Then, a 2h30m session with a short, informal chat about FactSet and the role, plus my CV, and 3 tests (numeracy, finance, Excel) with 30 mins each - they were pretty easy. Next was an Assessment Centre day to check personality. It included a group exercise, a demo of FactSet software with tasks, and a microteach (they explain it when you're invited, just follow instructions). There was also a presentation about the role and a chance to meet consultants; take notes from this for later. The final stage was an interview with two senior managers. To prep, know what a Graduate Consultant does and why you'd be good at it. If you know that and are genuinely interested in financial services, you'll be ready.
- What was your reason for not wanting to be an analyst?
Consulting Intern
The interview process included a phone screen and then a super day where I interviewed with five current consultants. The interviews were mostly behavioral, with questions about strengths, weaknesses, and the S&P 500. It wasn't too difficult.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What about your weaknesses?
- Can you explain what the S&P tracks?
