I went through a bunch of interview rounds, like with the hiring manager, the team, product folks, and then final alignment talks. They told me they'd decide by a certain date and I was one of the last two people. That date came and went, and no one said anything. Then I found out they were interviewing new people. So I bailed because the goalposts moved and they didn't follow through. The talks themselves were good and technically sound. But for a company that's all about you owning stuff, the lack of communication at the end was a bummer. It made me pull out.

It's a standard process but honestly, the company really lacks diversity and their standards seem to change for different hires. The sales team is all male and from very similar backgrounds. I have a better closing record and more experience than their current sales team members, but I was still rejected for unclear reasons. Based on my experience and what others I know have gone through, it seems like they really prefer candidates who are male and from more prestigious backgrounds. Experience seems to be less important than prestige and how things look.

I had three calls with the sales director and the founder. We discussed the product and their vision. They wanted to know more about my background and my previous experience. Each call lasted about 30 minutes.
