Flight Attendant
Applied online. Did a video interview. About 2 days after my video interview, I was invited for a face-to-face interview. ExpressJet offered to fly me out for it if needed. The flight they booked was on a pretty obscure route, but I didn't mind. During the face-to-face, there was a presentation about the job and training, which is 4 weeks long and unpaid. Then, we each went to the front, drew a question from a hat, and answered it. We also had to go on the mock aircraft and sit in the jumpseat. The recruiters asked the same questions from the video interview. A key question to focus on was 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years?'. After answering questions, one recruiter marked 'yes' on my paper. The recruiters left the room briefly and asked me again how I felt about being a flight attendant. They didn't like my response to the 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years?' question, so I didn't get the job. Make sure to mention you want to be a Flight Attendant for ExpressJet in your answers.

Flight Attendant
I applied online for the FA position and got an invite for an open house in Atlanta on 04/10/2017 and 04/11/2017. I live in Puerto Rico and it was hard to get there on short notice but I made it. My brother who is a FA for a Major company, flew me from San Juan to New Jersey, then we flew from Newark, NJ to Savannah, GA because flying to Atlanta was impossible due to weather delays. We drove from Savannah to Atlanta (about 3 hours) and stayed at a hotel near the Express Jet A Tech Center. Check-in started around 6:15 AM and the presentation began at 7:00 AM in a first-floor conference room. They gave a presentation about the company, airlines they work for, destinations, compensation, flight benefits, crew bases, and training. After the presentation, we had to give a fun fact, read a situation card and answer it to the whole group. Then we were asked to go to the third-floor break room and wait to be called for individual interviews. We were in the break room with actual employees who watched us interact. My name was called, and I had an interview with the person who sent the invitation and another former flight attendant. They were nice interviewers, and I loved the interaction and the interview. It was my first FA interview, and I didn't pass. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but maybe it wasn't the right time. I encourage those who want to be a FA to work for it, try as many times as needed, dress the part, and be friendly. Never quit.

Crew Scheduler
After submitting an online application, I got a call the next day for a group interview. It was a pretty big group, like 15-20 people, and they mentioned they were doing another one the next day too. We had a PowerPoint, then introduced ourselves. For those interested in continuing, they gave us a tough aptitude test with math, map reading, and time zone questions. If you did well on that, the next step was a 2-on-1 interview, which was more like a standard job interview about past work experience. If they wanted to hire you after that, HR would call to get paperwork for about 10 years of job history, plus fingerprints and a drug test. Getting to this stage means they're waiting for your background check to clear. Once everything came back okay, I got an email saying I was officially hired! Each step took about 5-7 days, and the whole process from applying to getting the offer was about 3-4 weeks.

Aircraft Dispatcher
It was a short interview, starting with an HR screening and a drug screening. The chat with the OCC manager was brief and casual. They asked standard questions, I took a quick dispatch test (20 questions, not too difficult with your DX certificate), and then got a tour of the OCC. The HR part took the most time, going over my past jobs, reasons for leaving, etc. Then HR handled the fingerprinting, confirmed my application details for the background check, and sent me for the drug test. The whole thing was pretty efficient, around 1.5 hours. The drug test itself also took about 1.5 hours, but that was with an external company off-site, so not really XJET's fault.
