Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Expedia Group.
Program Manager
I had high hopes for my application at Expedia, but the experience was disappointing. I started with a 30-min phone interview with HR, Matthew Fisher, who was nice and said I was progressing. Then, I had a 1-hour virtual interview with the Senior Director of Product Analytics & Experimentation. He was professional and gave me a surprise SQL test. He was respectful and gave me time, which was appreciated. Matthew then contacted me saying the interview went well and wanted to move me to three more interviews. I gave my availability, but that was it. I never heard back. I followed up many times over weeks via email and phone, leaving voicemails too, but got no response. It's been over two months, and I've been ghosted. It's disheartening seeing Matthew Fisher active on LinkedIn while ignoring my follow-ups. Candidates put a lot of time and effort into interviews. Being ghosted after positive feedback is unprofessional and disrespectful. I'm sharing this to encourage Expedia to improve candidate communication and to warn others that good performance and feedback don't guarantee a response.

Program Manager Intern
So, there were two parts to the interview. First, a Behaviours round to see how I handle tricky situations and show my management abilities. Then, a Technical Competency round where they asked questions to check my technical expertise.
- You'll be given a case study, and I need to explain how I would go about solving it, focusing on my approach and technical knowledge.
Program Manager
Phone screen, then it moved to a group interview. After that, there were 4 or 5 individual interviews, either in the same room or by moving between offices. All questions were situational, asking about handling tough situations or describing your best project. Nothing technical or too difficult if you're prepared. Everyone was really nice and organized, contrary to some reviews. They were well-prepared for my interview. I didn't get any feedback, even though the interviewers seemed to think it went well. I never heard back from Expedia after that, so if you don't get an offer in a couple of days, assume they're not interested.
- Can you tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer and how you resolved it?
- What would you consider your best project, and what made it stand out?
