Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Expedia Group.
Product Manager
After submitting my CV, I went through HR screening, an HR call, and then a Hiring Manager interview. My experience with HR was quite disorganized; they'd send last-minute invites, sometimes leading me to miss calls because I wasn't checking personal email, and they often ignored my availability emails. Despite this disorganization, the HR interaction was standard, covering questions and salary expectations. The Hiring Manager interview, however, was positive. They were approachable and genuine, showing real interest in my professional background and spending extra time discussing it. My main issue is the lack of communication after the Hiring Manager interview; I expected at least a rejection email as a courtesy.

Product Manager
The interview process at Expedia Group was really smooth and straightforward. Even though it was long, I felt like they were genuinely trying to see if I had what it takes to be a Product Manager there. It started with a recruiter chat to see what I was looking for and if I fit with the company's vibe and goals. They also laid out the whole interview loop so I knew what to expect each time. Everyone I met was nice and helpful, which made me feel comfortable enough to do my best. After the final panel interviews, I had a chat with my potential direct and hiring managers about the team I'd join. My recruiter then called me that same week with an offer.
- Can you tell me about a particularly tough product you've managed?
- Please detail the technical aspects and complexity involved in a product you've overseen.
- What metrics have you used to gauge the success of a product launch?
Product Manager
This company's interview process was incredibly poorly managed, showing a real lack of care for candidates, which makes me wonder how they treat their own employees. After a recruiter reached out, I started the process, which ended up dragging on for five long months, mainly due to a complete lack of communication from the recruiter. I had to constantly chase down the hiring manager and the recruiter for updates and to schedule the next steps. After what felt like forever, the recruiter finally called to say an offer was in the works and promised to follow up with compensation details in a few days. This was followed by a week of silence, and then three weeks later, I received an email stating the position was on hold and no offer would be extended. It seems Expedia interviewed many people over six months, made an offer, and then decided against hiring anyone, which is a huge waste of company time and resources, and frankly, a waste of my time too. After this experience, no amount of money could convince me to work there.
- Tell me about how you'd handle merging login and security systems when a company acquires others.
- Can you explain your understanding and application of Scrum or Agile principles?
- What's your approach to working with engineering teams?
