I applied to become a Market Associate Intern and have so far completed an online video interview. It had a total of 9 questions, but only 4 were recorded since the others were multiple choice. The multiple-choice questions were pretty general, mostly asking about my availability to start at Expedia or my graduation date.

The interview process started with a digital interview, and then there was a face-to-face interview. Before the f2f, the Expedia recruitment team called me and gave me a heads-up on what to expect and prepare for. It was a long list covering past experiences, my skills, the current hotel market performance, Expedia's background, and metrics like revPAR and ADR. I practiced everything beforehand because this was my dream job. Surprisingly, almost none of the questions were related to what I was told to prepare for. They seemed to ask questions randomly, just off the top of their heads. Because of this, I couldn't really show what I know, even though it was super relevant to the role. It felt like they were more interested in me as a person rather than my qualifications for the job. They seemed really impressed during the f2f interview, and I thought it went really well. I was told I'd hear back in a week, but after two and a half weeks, I still hadn't heard anything, so I emailed them. Three days after my email, I finally got a brief response saying I was unsuccessful. They didn't give any reason why. For such a big 'reputable' company, after two interview stages, it would have been nice to get an explanation for why I wasn't a good fit.

So I applied online and got this link to do a video interview through HireArt. It was pretty straightforward - you could practice a bunch, get the lighting and camera angle right. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview. Two managers interviewed me. They told me to just relax and take my time answering. The questions were quite tough. They started by asking about my past work experience, and then we did some role-playing. For instance, they had me try to persuade a hotel owner to sign up for Expedia. It was a really valuable experience; I learned a lot.
