Data Science Intern
The interview process is split into two main parts: first, a Hirevue recording session, and then a back-to-back in-person interview. For Hirevue, I had to record answers to some behavioral questions. The back-to-back part involved meeting with several senior employees.

Data Scientist
The first step was a 75-minute technical assessment on Hackerrank, featuring questions based on business scenarios relevant to Expedia. It included several SQL questions, two Python questions, and foundational statistics concepts like p-values, type 1 and type 2 errors, and confidence intervals.
- How would you approach SQL-related tasks?
- Can you solve these SQL problems based on Expedia's business scenarios?
- Can you answer these Python coding questions?
Data Scientist
The application process had a lot of issues, like sending wrong info about jobs and start dates. The recruiter was responsive but didn't admit to mistakes. It took over a month to talk to someone besides the recruiter, which felt like a waste of time as I got hired elsewhere waiting. It felt like new grads are expendable. First, there was an hour-long personality test about company principles, which was basically busy work as the recruiter said it was okay if people didn't do it. Then, a HireVue screen with 3 basic questions about why Expedia and the role, plus 13 basic stats questions. I don't like HireVue; they claim it's reviewed personally, but that defeats the purpose. The final interview had a back-to-back case study and problem-solving with behavioral questions, where I finally talked to actual employees. The interviews were mostly chill, but the case study was poorly designed and felt like a waste of time.
- How do you think you are a good fit for this position?
