You submit your application through the Exide careers page or job boards, sending in your resume and cover letter. Then, a recruiter or HR person checks the applications to pick candidates. They might have a quick phone chat to talk about your skills and if you're interested. If it's a technical job, you'll likely have one or more interviews about your skills and what you know. This could involve solving problems, technical questions, or case studies.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

The initial interview felt like a casual meet and greet, not very structured and without any behavioral interviewing. The second interview was chaotic. They had 5 candidates for the same role interviewed on the same day, moving us between rooms. Someone accidentally left their color-coded interview schedule on a desk. A part of the job involved reporting and analytics, and one interview included a case study with raw data that required using pivot tables, formulas, and analysis. The interview happened on a Tuesday, about three weeks before December 1st, which was the target start date. This timeline seemed impossible for an offer, negotiation, and giving two weeks' notice, especially with Thanksgiving in between. This makes me question their integrity. The HR rep mentioned they had enough info to decide that day, but I never heard back.

Had a phone screen with HR, talked with the hiring manager, and then an on-site interview with three people. Some of the long-term employees had a bad attitude. The hiring manager mostly talked and talked, and it was hard to get questions in. He also rambled on about simple things when I did manage to ask a question. I decided I wouldn't accept an offer unless it was at least double my current pay, even before I knew I wouldn't get one. He mentioned that the motive power division, where he's been for about 23 years, has only been profitable for two of those years, so I'd suggest avoiding that division. His office seemed to show he cares more about golf than building a strong team for business development.

So I had a phone interview with the hiring manager first, which was pretty standard. Then there was an onsite interview. The hiring manager said he'd act like a normal day on the job and grill me on stuff that needed to get done. Honestly, if that was any indication, I wouldn't have taken the job. The manager was really rude and borderline racist. About three months later, I got a letter from the government saying the company went bankrupt, so I couldn't even file a claim. Lucky I didn't end up working there.

  • The manager asked questions that weren't difficult, but the manager himself was a difficult person.
  • How would you handle a difficult situation like this?
  • Describe a challenging experience you've had at work.
