I knew a lot of people there already, and my background was a good match. I had about 4-5 interviews in total and then got the offer. I spoke with people in my same role, the sales team I would be working with, sales management, SE management, and then a higher VP.

It started off great, but the final interview with the CEO, Bill Andrews, really soured things. I first spoke with a recruitment agent who then passed me to the Sales Manager. We had a virtual interview, and after meeting up to discuss the role's details, we both agreed I was a good fit for Exagrid the next day. Then, I had a virtual call with the European VP, who also approved me to move on to the next stage: a virtual call with Bill Andrews. He's quite a character; despite his age, he hasn't grasped that an interview is a two-way street, not his personal platform to just talk and talk. It was strange; I barely got to speak about myself or answer questions because he kept cutting me off. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. Reminds me of what Steve Jobs said about hiring smart people to tell you what to do. What's your hiring philosophy, Bill? Glad I dodged that bullet.

i had an initial call with an external recruiter, then an internal recruiter, followed by interviews with the director of sales, the territory manager, and the vice president of EMEA. It was almost 5 interviews in total. They asked about my previous experience, and after that, everything was very smooth.

The interviews felt like a formality, as if they weren't genuinely considering candidates. It seemed like my age was an issue, and they wouldn't explain why I wasn't hired, which felt like age discrimination. I have a lot of storage experience, but perhaps too many years of age. I should look for a company that's growing and looking towards the future.
