Consultant
Typical interview process for a consulting firm. Starts with a recruiter screening, then an interview with a manager to assess skills for projects, and a final interview with a Principal or Client Lead. Got two conditional offers that didn't pan out due to shifting client needs, which is normal in consulting. My experience was good overall, mostly thanks to the recruiter, Alyssa. When she was out, I talked to another recruiter about an opening, but when I said I accepted a role, they just went silent. It was weird going from talking to Alyssa all the time to this silence. Makes me feel like I made the right choice accepting an offer somewhere else.
- How would you optimize Power BI performance for large datasets?
Business Development Director
First, I had a 10-15 minute recruiter call, who found me on LinkedIn, asking basic background questions. Then, a 45-minute call with the CRO, focusing on work background and client relationships. Brian seemed genuinely interested and asked good questions. The third round was with Greg, VP of Biz Dev. He seemed unprepared and asked questions unrelated to the job, spending the time on LinkedIn and repeating questions already covered. It felt like he hadn't coordinated with the team. He also asked questions that seemed illegal, about my age and current contract's financial details, creating a hostile environment. This felt disrespectful given they reached out, I prepared for hours, and arranged childcare for the interview.
- What year did you graduate?
- Can you describe your current contract's compensation structure?
IT Consultant
I got contacted on Linkedin by the recruiter and had a chat with them. Then, I had two more interviews with the actual team. The whole interview process was pretty smooth, with really basic technical questions, mostly behavioral, just to see if I'd fit in. They offered me a position soon after. They kept telling me it was a hybrid role, but after they gave me the offer, they said I had to commit to a year onsite first. So I turned down the offer. If they're being cagey about that before I even start, I'd rather not work there.
- Can you define what a primary key is?
Software QA/Automation Engineer
Talked with HR Emily, she was nice and I could ask her anything. Then 1st Round was behavioral, asked about my past experiences and challenges. 2nd Round was a mix of behavioral and technical, with some consulting questions, LeetCode easy problems, and talk about optimizations. The final round with the tech lead didn't happen because they didn't show up, but I assume it would have been technical.
