First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Evolution Hospitality.
Sales Coordinator
The whole interview process took about 5 weeks, which felt really long. It included a phone screen and then two rounds of panel interviews, with a lot of waiting in between. The in-person interviews were not great. I spoke with 8 different people. Some interviewers seemed to have totally different ideas about who they were looking for. One person said the entry-level job didn't need much sales experience, but another interviewer seemed concerned about my experience level. One interviewer spent a lot of time talking badly about the last person they hired for the role, instead of interviewing me. The interviewers were sometimes rude and condescending. For example, one person asked me if I expected to still be applying for entry-level jobs 6 years after graduating college.
- Can you share an instance where you messed up at a past job and how you corrected it?
- Looking at your resume, you graduated in 2011. Were you expecting to still be applying for entry level positions 6 years later?
Director of Sales
I first had a phone chat with the regional sales manager, who is in charge of my current hotel and others. Then, I met with that manager and HR in person. A week after that, I met with the head of operations. From these conversations, I felt a good connection and knew I'd like working there. They asked about my background and future plans, but mostly, we talked about me as a person and how I interact with people. They really emphasize work-life balance, which is a great message. The whole process was quick and everyone was really open with me. After being here for a few months, I feel even more confident in my choice to join.
- Can you tell me about your personal interests outside of work?
- Describe yourself as an individual.
- What is your experience and what are your career goals?
Talent Recruitment Manager
After I applied online, the recruitment team reached out to me right away. So far, I've had a phone interview, a Skype interview, and several interviews at the main office with different leaders. Everyone I've talked to has been great, friendly, and willing to help with any questions. It's been a really good interview process, and you can tell Evolution Hospitality really cares about hiring the right person for the job and for their company culture. They clearly value their team and employees, which makes me feel good about wanting to work here.
- Can you tell me about three of your personal weaknesses?
Guest Service Agent
I applied online and got a call pretty fast to set up an in-person interview at the hotel's restaurant. It felt pretty chill, like a casual chat with two managers. They called me back about a week later for a second interview with the GM. Not long after that, they offered me the job. The whole thing moved quickly because they really needed to hire someone due to high turnover.
- Can you share an instance of dealing with a challenging guest and how you managed it?
